PiPS – People, Plants, Schools.

PiPS is a registered charity based in the Mt Maunganui/Pāpāmoa Beach area of Aotearoa New Zealand, formed to help support the garden programmes of our member schools. Our catchment area has grown over the years and currently runs from Paengaroa in the east, northwest along the coastline as far as Waihi Beach, taking in eight primary (years 1-6) and one intermediate (years 7-8) schools.

PiPS employs garden facilitators who work across our member schools, assisting them in running their school gardens and other environmentally-based, student focussed projects within the school, gardening to organic principles and with respect for tikanga Māori.

PiPS also partners with various community-based groups to run projects which give tamariki a wider appreciation of the importance of our local environment in their everyday lives.

You can learn more about PiPS in the About section, find out about upcoming Events, view the home gardening Video series we produced during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, and keep up to date with our schools’ projects in their blogs – Tahatai CoastArataki, Mount Intermediate, St Thomas More, Suzanne Aubert, Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa, Waihi Beach and Paengaroa.

Please also take the time to visit our Community Supporters & Partners and Funders pages where we acknowledge the generous local businesses and charities who support our mahi.
