PiPS – People, Plants, Schools.
PiPS is a registered charity based in the Mt Maunganui/Pāpāmoa Beach area of Aotearoa/New Zealand, formed to help support the garden programmes of our member schools. Our current catchment area runs from Pāpāmoa Beach, northwest along the coastline as far as Waihi Beach, taking in seven primary (years 1-6) and one intermediate (years 7-8) schools.
PiPS employs Garden Facilitators who work across our member schools, assisting volunteers and staff to run their school gardens and other environmentally-based, student focussed projects within the school, gardening to organic principles and with respect for tikanga Māori.
This website is a place to share our progress and learning, thank our sponsors and communicate with our friends and supporters.
You can learn more about PiPS and its goals in the About section, find out about upcoming Events, view the home gardening Video series we produced during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, and keep up to date with our schools’ projects in their blogs – Tahatai Coast, Arataki, Mount Intermediate, St Thomas More, Omanu, Suzanne Aubert, Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa and Waihi Beach.
